While I was on my blogging hiatus, one of the easiest ways that I kept in touch with other bloggers and friends is through the use of Facebook. I could keep up on their new posts, family events and their quirky status updates. They could also stay updated on my progress. It wasn't until I returned that I realized how important those small lines of communication can be in your online relationships. Maybe it's just because I can be nosy, but I enjoy learning about the families and lives of people that I have met online. It somehow makes everything more real, and it's alot more enjoyable than black font on a computer screen. So I invite all my readers, new and old to come find me on facebook. This blog is networked through a blog application on Facebook, so you should all be able to find me through the icon at the right side of this post. If you don't currently use Facebook, I would highly encourage you to do so. It's a great way to stay updated with friends and family!
I'm not going to lie, I don't like Twitter. I am trying to use it, though I'm failing miserably. Once you enter the Twitter homepage a whole new world is exposed. They have their own language, like tweets, chirps, re-tweeting, etc. Don't get me wrong, I know the whole problem is in my head. I can't seem to say anything useful or snarky in only 140 characters. There are many fellow bloggers who use Twitter non-stop and have made new friends and lots of business connections. So, in the spirit of not being a quitter, I'm forcing myself to tweet in the hopes that it becomes a lovable habit - like exercise (still working on making that a habit, too). My handle is deerpassion, and you can find a link to my profile at the right side of this post. I hope that my fellow bloggers and readers can find me on there and help me learn my way around the site better.
So what about you? Are you a Facebook fan? A Twitterer/Tweeter? (What's the correct wordage for a person who uses Twitter?) And, what are the benefits that you have found by using such social networking sites?

I'm working on figuring out all this social media, too. I might be mildly allergic to it, but I'm giving it a go!
We do have a facebook and twitter account, and they will help to drive people to your site, but I have to be honest - I pretty much despise them.
I have a brother, though, who takes care of our social networking sites, and that works out awesome.
Good luck with them, though. They will definitely make your blog more visible.
I have a face book and Twitter page... great if used in the context they were developed for... to stay in touch friends new and old, and networking.
Look foward to see youb there

I like Facebook - although I've really, really limited my use of it. Strictly family, people I talk to on a daily basis anyway and business contacts/blog fan pages. When I had all of my online friends on there too it just got to be too much for me to handle.
don't like Twitter - can't keep up, conversations don't make sense (because I don't keep up/stay on for awhile/etc...) But, as I get my business website up and running and etc... I'll start using it and trying to make myself like it!
I am the opposite. I am OK w/ Twitter (dont know all the lingo though), but right now Facebook is my Nemesis....
