Kansas Shed Hunting

With a toddler and a busy schedule we haven't had much time for shed hunting this spring.. but we have been out and about... walking and exploring some of my favorite deer hunting property. I think I found a new place to put my blind this fall and just being able to get out of the house is a welcome relief as winter starts to wane.

Of course, there's only so far you can walk with a 2 year old... especially when everything is taller than she is! She had a blast, though, and she found plenty of treasures (rocks) to bring home in her pockets!! We're still planning on getting out more, hopefully, since the weather is actually on the warmer side of things this spring. How's the shed hunting in your neck of the woods?

Way to take advantage of the weather and get outside.

I love it when little ones find treasure...My oldest Granddaughter was a rock collector at that age.

I have found eight sheds, possibly one set, found in different parts of the timber. Five out of the eight have been damaged by some gnawing critter.

Then I have found 3 buck skulls with one intact antler on two - the other side had been gnawed and the third skull was missing both, had his sawed off. I'm curious about the sawed off skull...not taken by anyone I gave permission to hunt in the last few years.

I am going out tomorrow with sheds in mind, though many bucks have not dropped them yet due to the easy winter and tons of food...nice post! Jack

What a cute pic! I haven't been able to shed hunt yet, but, hopefully, when I do, my three year old is right there with me, too!

We've been out a couple times but nothing. The crazy winter we've had, has most of the bucks screwed up and I don't think they've dropped many yet...but we'll keep hitting the woods until we do!
