Ducks, Geese & a Gorgeous Sunset

This weekend we spent an afternoon at one of the nearby community lakes. Nestled on the outskirts of a small town, this lake is renowned for attracting hundreds of waterfowl during the year. Fishing is allowed, but it's more of a picturesque area, popular with families and photographers. It's also surrounded by playgrounds, giving the young ones a place to burn off their energy after they get bored feeding the ducks and geese.

Saturday afternoon turned out to be a perfect day for enjoying the spring-like weather. There was no wind to speak of (so rare in Kansas!) and the temperature was just cool enough to warrant long-sleeve shirts or jackets. The almost cloudless sky made for a striking sunset, giving me the chance to snap some intriguing photographs. I was hoping to take some more photos of my daughter, but she's at that age where she can't hardly stand still. I love this age, though, and I love that I had the opportunity to get the photographs I did. Here are some of my favorites... Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

What a great opportunity to watch nature...beautiful pictures. I have to smile when you talk about your daughter being at the age where she has troubles standing still...I am wondering if that might be true her whole life? Just sayin', so many things to see and explore. :)
